November of 2002 saw the creation of an entirely new concept in Trail competition.  It was labeled the MOUNTAIN TRAIL CHAMPIONSHIPS and was held at the Oregon Horse Center in Eugene, Oregon.  This trail course was breathtaking to behold.

The main indoor arena becomes magically transformed into the great outdoors complete with forests of trees 12 to 15 feet tall, ditches, boulders, logs, stumps, sage brush, mountains of dirt to climb, campsites, a variety of 'wild animal', a real bridge 50 feet long and high enough for horses to walk under, fog, and wind.  the most outstanding obstacles are the water hazards complete with running creeks, waterfalls, and ponds to cross.  UNBELIEVABLE to see. 

This event is held in November and each year the obstacles become even more awesome.  In the 2005 competition, there was a 25 foot waterfall that the horses had to walk behind.
